Homecoming for marathon-running sales manager Max

Max Richards rejoins Vygon UK after seven years away

Medical device manufacturer Vygon UK has welcomed a familiar face back to its Swindon headquarters – its new National Sales Manager for Neonatal and Anaesthesia products first worked for the company more than 20 years ago.

Starting as a sales executive in 2003, Max worked his way up the ranks later becoming business development manager before moving on to new pastures.

Now after seven years away, Max is back and ready to put his skills to good use – after marketing specialist enteral and pain management products for customers spanning the EMEA region.

In his national sales manager role, Max will be focused on supporting Vygon’s NHS customers, by highlighting the unique medical devices and surgical tools of benefit to neonatology,  paediatrics, and anaesthesiology departments.

Talking about his return, Max says: “It’s great to be back on home soil and working with some of the best and most innovative medical products on the market. I’m particularly excited about showing customers and prospects the benefits of our Nutrisafe2 enteral feeding systems. Designed for neonatal babies, the Nutrisafe2 product range really is second-to-none. I feel privileged to be presenting those products to customers.

“Advances in neonatal care mean that babies are surviving smaller and younger than ever before. But they are also some of the most vulnerable and critically ill patients hospital teams are treating, which makes it vital that we provide them with the specialist support they need. For the past 50 years Vygon has massively invested in creating devices and medical equipment that meets the specific needs of their patients – forging an excellent reputation as a leader in neonatal technologies – and I’m looking forward to building on that success.”

Max says he is also excited about TIVA (Total Intravenous Anaesthesia) Sets. These products enable intravenous rather than inhalation anaesthesia, which means patients have a smoother emergence from anaesthesia and reduced instances of nausea. Vygon’s TIVA sets lead the industry because of their armoured tubing kink prevention, minimal dead space and multi-lumen from hub to tip – all of which contribute to faster patient recovery.

Eager to put Vygon’s life-saving technology into the hands of healthcare providers that need it the most, Max is currently building a targeted sales team across the UK – recruiting new team members in the North and South of the nation within the next six months.

He continues: “When I started here in 2003 Vygon had a great culture and strong family feel and I’m so pleased to say that hasn’t changed since I’ve been away. The organisation ensures its customers are heard, that their needs are being responded to and that all colleagues feel valued and motivated. Vygon gets those fundamentals so right, which makes it such a pleasure to return.”

Away from work, Max is a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and 2025 London Marathon finisher. He recently completed a 53km run across the Cotswolds in 32 degree heat, not far from his home in Cirencester. Max reflects: “I love pushing my boundaries and attempting challenges that initially seem daunting, the feeling of overcoming them is very rewarding.”
