          Neonate Respiratory Support

Vygon UK leads the way in specialist devices for neonatal patients helping clinicians to deliver vital care to the youngest and most vulnerable patients.

Babies born before full-term may need varying degrees of respiratory support, depending on the maturity of the respiratory system or may have other factors that contribute to RDS – respiratory distress syndrome.

RDS is the most common lung disease in premature infants and is a pulmonary disorder resulting from a surfactant deficiency. In Europe RDS is observed for about 90% of babies born at 24 weeks and for 80% babies born at 28 weeks of gestation. (1)

Surfcath – Catheter for surfactant administration using the LISA method

Surfcath from Vygon is a specially designed medical device for babies needing treatment for respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). Surfacth uses the LISA method (Less invasive Surfactant Administration) to place the catheter so that the clinician can safely administer the surfactant therapy.

For more information on Surfcath, or our other specialist devices for neonates, please contact a member of the Vygon team.
