‘PICC’ describes a commonly used vascular access device suitable for mid-long-term IV therapies. The long, thin, flexible tube is inserted within the upper arm of the patient, with the end of the catheter positioned in the superior vena cava (SVC).
PICC line insertion is done within a hospital environment but can also stay in-situ with the patient in clinical or at home settings. At home IV therapies offer a multitude of benefits to the patient, as well as significant cost saving opportunities for hospital Trusts.
At Vygon, we have three core PICC devices:
The CT PICC Easy and Maxflo PICC are both CT-rated PICC lines, for a safer and more efficient solution for CT scan injections and withstand up to 325 PSI. Please refer to our specialist section on vascular access devices for Neonatal and Paediatric Patients.
As a part of our vascular access device range from Vygon, customers of our midline catheters gain access to our outstanding clinical support and education services. With dedicated training and education opportunities to help your clinicians and team develop the skills required to operate a successful vascular access service.
For more information on PICC’s or developing the vascular access service in your hospital or Trust, please contact a member of the Vygon team.
