Central Venous Access for Adult Patients
As a core part of our critical care rage, Vygon UK are leading the way in central venous catheters and CVC access devices. The range above demonstrates the variety available for adult patients. We also have CVCs for paediatrics, and Highflow CVC’s for acute therapeutic requirements.
Central Line Indications
Central venous catheters and CVC lines are forms of vascular access devices that are inserted into a central vein for short-term, acute IV therapies such as:
- Quick delivery of intravenous fluids
- Blood or blood products transfusions
- Intermittent injections
- Blood sampling
- Chemotherapy
- Delivery of other drugs and medications
Multi-lumen Central Venous Catheters
Select your catheters with confidence with the variety of sizes and multi-lumen central venous catheters from Vygon. Ensuring you get the best suited catheter for your patients’ individual requirements and therapeutic needs.
Lumen choices go from 2-lumen catheters to 7-lumen catheters, so you can vary the CVC line choice depending on the therapeutic requirements of the patient.
CRBSI’s (Catheter Related Blood Stream Infections) and CVC Lines
For acute and emergency patients, reducing the risks of infection is of the upmost importance. As with all vascular access devices, CVC’s carry a risk of microbial contamination, potentially resulting in harmful catheter related blood stream infections.
To reduce the risks of CRBSI’s in your department, we have two stand out options:
- Multistar Central Venous Catheter antibiotic impregnated catheter
- Multicath Expert: silver ion impregnated catheters, offering antimicrobial protection
