Important changes affecting MIC and MIC-KEY enteral devices

We would like to make you aware that there will be a number of important changes made to our MIC and MIC-Key enteral feeding devices over the coming months ,details of which are outlined below: Change to MIC and MIC-KEY extension set material formulation Transition to ENFit compatible products Brand change on MIC and MIC-KEY products.

We would like to make you aware that there will be a number of important changes made to our MIC and MIC-KEY enteral feeding devices over the coming months, details of which are outlined below:

  • Change to MIC and MIC-KEY extension set material formulation
  • Transition to ENFit compatible products
  • Brand change on MIC and MIC-KEY products.

Change in MIC and MIC-KEY extension set material formulation.

From May 2016 the formulation of separately packaged MIC and MIC-KEY extension sets is changing.  The changes will include:

  • Extension set tubing: DEHP softening agent replaced and extension set code change, see product code matrix-section highlighted in orange.

Extension sets within MIC-KEY button kits are already DEHP- free. This change therefore standardises extension set material formulation.

Transition to ENFit compatible products.

ENFit is the name given to the new global standard for enteral device connectors. The aim behind the ENFit connector design is to prevent misconnections with other non-enteral fluid delivery systems and improve patient safety.

Vygon will be able to supply MIC and MIC-KEY ENFit compatible products from 4th July 2016 including MIC-KEY low profile feeding tubes, MIC-Key Jejunostomy tubes and MIC-KEY extension sets.

See product code matrix-section highlighted blue. Technical data sheets for these items are also available (see below) as reference tools.Further updates relating to the codes highlighted in pink will follow in the coming months.

Brand change on MIC and MIC-KEY Products

During the ENFit transition, branding of the MIC and MIC-KEY products is changing. This is following the rebrand from Kimberly-Clark Health Care to Halyard Health. Vygon remains the distributor in the UK for these products and your point of reference for all sales and support requirements.

The products are identical other than the changes described in this communication. An example of the new product label branding.
